Laura Garbštienė

Laura Garbštienė was born in 1973, Vilkija (Lithuania) and based in Vilnius. In 2000 she finished textile Master studies at Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts. In 2002-2005 she collaborated with the artist and composer Artūras Bumšteinas (artists duo “G-Lab”), created video works and audiovisual installations. Since 2002 she creates videos, installations, photographs, performs actions and performances. She often becomes the object of the work herself,  creates fictional characters that she herself becomes, and who act in imaginary, extraordinary and awkward situations. One of the main aspects of the artist’s practice is the experimentation with language, fluctuation of meanings of the words, chance, provocative naiveté, the tune of subjective emotional experience and generality within the multicultural contexts.
