He creates sound and image installations, videos, and objects that explore the psychology of power games and the working of the human psyche. Through the use of sound, he alters the perception of space and its semantics. His work is often based on group therapy sessions, documentary material from police interrogations, and psychiatric interview manuals, which he uses as a springboard and, by invoking a combination of sound, colour, and meaningful texts, creates situations in order to elicit empathy with the desired psychological state. He is also interested in the methods and systems that are used in society to control individuals and situations. Krunglevičius creates musical performances, participates in film festivals and electronic and contemporary music festivals, and has exhibited in both solo and group shows at the Contemporary Art Centre in Vilnius, the Ursula Blickle Stiftung (Germany), Oslo Kunstforening (Norway), the Łaźnia Centre for Contemporary Art in Gdańsk (Poland), and elsewhere. He was nominated for the Nam June Paik Award in 2010, which included an exhibition at the Museum Kunstpalast in Dusseldorf. In 2009, he was awarded the Sparebankstiftelsen DnB NOR stipendutstilling Art Prize. Ignas Krunglevičius’ work was shown at the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Art Festival in 2009, where he received an honorary mention.
