At the Code Art Fair 2018 Vartai gallery presents a dynamic exposition of the works by three artists – Mindaugas Lukošaitis, Jānis Avotiņš, Vytautas Viržbickas

Mindaugas Lukošaitis (b. 1980 in Šiualiai, Lithuania)  graduated from the Sculpture Department at the Vilnius Academy of Arts. The artist regularly takes part in international group shows and holds solo exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad. He represented Lithuania at the 26th São Paulo Biennial and participated in the Populism exhibition curated by Nicolaus Schafhausen at the Frankfurter Kustverein. Lukošaitis’ works have been exhibited at institutions like VOLTA NY in New York, the Contemporary Art Centre in Vilnius, and Galerie Fons Walters in Amsterdam. They have also been included in Phaidon’s encyclopedia “Vitamin D: New Perspectives in Drawing”. Works by Lukošaitis are featured in the collections of the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art (Denmark), Lewben Art Foundation (Lithuania), MO Museum (Lithuania), as well as private collectors in Lithuania and abroad.

Jānis Avotiņš (b. 1981 in Riga, Latvia) is one of the most vivid and relevant figures of the contemporary art scene of the Baltic States. Avotiņš made his artistic debut in the early 2000’s, after graduating from the Department of Painting at the Art Academy of Latvia. An active contributor to group exhibitions, the artist has mounted over thirty solo exhibitions in the museums and art galleries worldwide. His works are held in significant contemporary art collections, including François Pinault (France), Charles Saatchi (London, UK), Olbriht (Berlin, Germany), Sandretto Re Rebaudengo (Turin, Italy), Hort (New York, USA), Rubell (Miami, USA), etc. In 2016, he received the Prix Jean-François Prat as best contemporary painter. The artist resides and works in Riga (Latvia).

Vytautas Viržbickas (b. 1987 in Panevežys, Lithuania) is an emerging and promising Lithuanian sculptor, who graduated from the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Among others the artist has presented his works in solo shows at project space "Malonioji 6", Vilnius, Lithuania,  Le Magasin museum of contemporary art, Grenoble, France, Galerija Vartai, Vilnius, Lithuania, Viennacontemporary 2016 and Artissima art fair 2017. The artists has also actively taken part in a number of groupshows in Lithuania and abroad. The works of this young artist has been acquired by Alain Servais collection (Belgium), Mo museum (Lithuania) as well as private collections in Austria, Spain and Lithuania.
