28 April - 28 May 2009
VARTAI gallery introduces the Netherlands contemporary art bullies from Rotterdam – Atelier Van Lieshout (AVL). This multidisciplinary 'art practice' founded by artist Joep van Lieshout in 1995 involves installation, design, furniture and architecture. Their artwork captivates with ingenious structure as well as multifunction. Alongside, a representative of the Lithuanian multidisciplinary art – Dainius Liškevičius – will introduce his newest project which is defined as ‘a picnic’ by the artist himself. The space of the gallery is filled with various objects that had been stored in the artist’s stairwell for a long time. This absurd turnout becomes a creative adventure and based on an old travelling picture a shed is constructed of all these things offering a temporary shelter for travellers.
